My work involves three-dimensional objects and bright colors in minimal, high contrast compositions. I often work with nostalgic objects, particularly plastic items with an aspect of tactile memory. The feel of the ridges on a cassette tape’s spindle, the crinkle of cellophane, the smoothness of shrink wrap, etc. Many pieces use gold, magenta, and other highly saturated colors. Neon colors get their brightness by converting light outside of the visible spectrum into a reflection of additional visible light. I am attempting a similar amplification of the beauty and meaning within objects typically experienced as mundane or obsolete.
